icon_twitterI just finished adding about 30 more bots to the list. It is hard to count them to keep track of how many I have but there are a lot. I also added a link on the right side of the home page to our twitter account. Please feel free to follow us and share the site with your friends.

Today I received a wave telling me I am now able to invite some friends to the Google Wave preview. After all of the work that has been put into the wiki by everyone I decided I would give 2 of those invites out to the 2 users who add the most content to the wiki (new pages, or adding missing info to existing pages) from now until November 15th.

If you wish to enter the contest, just place your email address to your user page on the wiki. This page can be found by clicking on your username at the top right of the page after you have signed up. The added content or pages must be relevant and not overly fluffed up. I will judge this myself on the 16th and send out the invites to the email address you specify. Thanks to everyone who has and will help keep this site the only real list of Google Wave bots to turn to.

**Edit** I have decided to also give out 3 invites, 1 each to a random user who retweets this post using the retweet button at the top of this post. On the 15th I will make a list of everyone who has retweeted this article and select 3 users randomly from it.

Thanks to you guys the Google Wave Bots list has over 115 pages not counting the empty pages (mostly gadget pages). No other list of wave bots on the internet can even come close. Every day there are 2-6 different users who help add to the list by either adding new information to current bot pages or by adding new bots to the list. Every single bit of effort you spend helps keep this the only place anyone looking for google wave bots would need to go.

If you have any suggestions as to something you would like to see on the site, or something you would like to see done differently, please feel free to leave me a message on the forum. If you have some changes or additions that you would like to submit but do not wish to edit the wiki, you can leave those on the forum also.

In an attempt to make the instruction pages as real as possible I had contemplated embedded mini waves into each page to show bots usage. The bad part about that was that the waves would need to be public (anyone could edit and deface them) and that only current wave users could see them. I was trying to avoid having to put screenshots in as that could take a lot of time and most users would not want to go that far. I decided to try my hand at re-creating the blip look with html and css. I think I did a halfway decent job and below is a screenshot of the end result.

For those who know mediawiki templates, you will have no problem using this one. For the rest, you can just copy/paste the following code and make your small changes.

For bots that respond to your blip with a new blip, use the “wave” template:

{{wave

|trigger=<what you say to get the bot to respond>

|bot=<bots address (eg. bouncy@appspot.com)>

|response=<what the bot said in response>

}}

For bots that edit your blip, use “wave2″ twice as a before and after:

My text:

{{wave2

|bot=<In the first of 2 blips, this will be “Me”>

|response=<In the first blip, response will be what you say to the bot>

}}

Bots change:

{{wave2

|bot=<In the second blip, if the bot edited your response, it would be “Me (and botsname@appspot.com)”>

|response=<This would be what the bot changed your text to>

}}

If anyone has any improvements for this mediawiki template, please feel free to let me know. I am by no means an html/css expert and am more than willing to take hand-me-down suggestions.

I got the wiki setup (and a forum, but its empty right now) and added as many bots (and gadgets) as I could. I currently have 84 bots listed, although I am sure at least a third of them are not working (and will be noted soon hopefully). I also have 23 gadgets listed on there that you can check out. If you have any cool ideas for gadgets or bots, please post them in the forum and hopefully we can get some bored devs to check out your ideas.
